Bay Mills Indian Community gets housing improvement grant

BAY MILLS, MI— The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development has awarded a home repair grant to the Bay Mills Indian Community.

The $105,701 grant will be used for essential improvements including energy-related upgrades, accessibility enhancements for individuals with disabilities, and repairs, replacements, and rehabilitation for low-income households.

Bay Mills was one of three rural communities across the state to receive USDA money for housing repairs.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
