NEGAUNEE, MI-- The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter has a new director.
Ryan Poupore is new to the field of animal sheltering, but he says he’s always had a passion to work in the non-profit sector and he’s committed to being a voice for animals.
Poupore graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s in public administration. He attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy, worked with the DNR, stood guard on the steps of the White House for the Secret Service, and served as logistics supervisor for NMU.
Poupore lives in Ishpeming with his wife, kids, and two pitbulls.
