Dickinson County supplies another state Christmas tree

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   This year’s official state Christmas tree is coming from Iron Mountain.

The 61-foot blue spruce is being donated by Jordan and Sarah Wolfenberg. It marks the fourth state tree to hail from Dickinson County and the 23rd tree from the Upper Peninsula.

The tree will be harvested October 24 and delivered to the Capitol with help from the Michigan Association of Timbermen and the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association. It will be cut and transported at no cost to the owners or state.

The tree will be decorated and lit November 22 at the 35th Annual Silver Bells in the City celebration in Lansing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
