Anchor Sarah Blakely leaves WLUC

Facebook

NEGAUNEE, MI— More changes are happening at TV-6 since the firing of weatherman Karl Bohnak last week over his refusal to get a COVID vaccine.

Anchor Sarah Blakely has also been terminated for not getting a shot, but she says she left mostly because she was sexually harassed by former meteorologist Shawn Householder. On her TV6 Facebook page, Blakely says Householder had been making inappropriate advances toward her for years, but her employers let him keep his job.

He is facing a charge of breaking and entering in 96th District Court, allegedly stemming from an incident last November where Householder entered Blakely’s house without permission. The charge was filed September 3.

Householder was eventually fired by employer Gray Television.

Blakely says her work environment has become increasingly toxic and unbearable. She says she doesn’t agree with the vaccine mandate, and the situation also allowed her a way out of her contract. Her Facebook post says, "A company that can’t handle sexual harassment properly cannot and will not be trusted with my overall health.”

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
