Deceased Isle Royale campers identified

ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK, MI— Officials have identified two campers found deceased at Isle Royale National Park.

They were discovered Sunday at South Lake Desor Campground. Due to its remote location near Greenstone Ridge trail, a fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter were used to assist with transportation for the investigation.

Both individuals have been identified, but no names have been released. Next of kin have been notified.

Officials say there is no known threat to the public at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
