Marquette, MI - The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University will commemorate Women’s History Month with the exhibit “Extraordinary Women of the U.P.” The exhibit spotlights 60 influential women native to the Upper Peninsula or who settled in the area, highlighting their significant contributions in the fields of education, arts, politics, medicine, activism and public service. Much of the research for this exhibition was conducted by NMU students from a fall of 2023 women's history course.
The “Extraordinary Women of the U.P” exhibit opens Saturday, March 23rd and runs thru July 27th. It is funded in part by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
