Poet and prose writer Jonathan Johnson visits Peter White Public Library on Thursday, November 13, to talk about his new collection of stories, "The Little Lights of Town." In this conversation with our own Hans Ahlström, Johnson reflects on his deep roots in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the landscapes, communities, and quiet resilience that inform his work. He’ll share how he moved from poetry into fiction, what drives his sense of place, and why he is drawn to the tension between isolation and connection in the North Woods. Listeners will gain a fresh appreciation for the characters in his stories (and for the often-overlooked, shimmering “little lights” of everyday lives).
Ahlström spoke with Johnson in our studios:
Johnson will hold a reading event for "The Little Lights of Town" at Peter White Public Library on Thursday, 11/13, at 6:30pm, in collaboration with PWPL's Marquette Poets Circle and the NMU Department of English.
