Negaunee woman awarded for her volunteering efforts

GRAND RAPIDS, MI--   An Upper Peninsula woman has been honored as the 2013 Governor’s Senior Volunteer of the Year.  

Yvonne Clark of Negaunee was selected as one of five finalists because of her many hours with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Community Emergency Response Team and Red Cross, among other groups. 

The Governor’s review panel received 140 nominations showcasing efforts by Michigan citizens and organizations.  Clark was the award winner in the Senior category. 

She was honored in Grand Rapids Tuesday during the 2013 Governor’s Service Awards Celebration entitled “An Evening with the Stars.”

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
