IRON RIVER, MI— Ski Brule is hosting a celebration and fundraiser for Nick Baumgartner this week.
The Iron River native won a gold medal in the mixed team snowboard cross in the Beijing Winter Olympics. He started working at the ski hill when he was 14 years old and continues to live in Iron River with his son and extended family.
Nick intends to keep competing on the World Cup Tour and wants to attend the 2023 World Championships in the country of Georgia. The Ski Brule event aims to raise money for his travel.
Things kick off Friday at 5 p.m. with music, food and raffles.
