MARQUETTE, MI— Gar Atchison, Market President of UP Health System and Chief Executive Officer of UPHS–Marquette, is leaving his post.
Atchison has accepted a new job in his hometown of Petoskey, where he’ll be closer to family. He’s been with UPHS since 2019.
Prior to his current job, Atchison served in leadership roles at several medical facilities in North Carolina and Petoskey.
Tonya Darner, current Chief Operating Officer of UPHS–Marquette, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer until a permanent replacement is found.
