UPPER PENINSULA, MI— Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist was in the western U.P. Wednesday to talk about tax credits, housing, and broadband.
He joined seniors in Ironwood to discuss the governor’s proposed Caring for MI Family Tax Credit, which would cover caregiving expenses like counseling, transportation, and nursing or respite services.
Gilchrist traveled to Crystal Falls afterward to hear a presentation on the 68-unit “missing middle housing” program, meant to address a housing shortage in the area.
He then visited CCI Systems in Iron Mountain and toured the facility. The communications provider has built and/or upgraded thousands of miles of broadband networks.
