WNMU's Bill Hart to receive prestigious broadcasting award

MARQUETTE, MI— Longtime Public Radio 90 employee and Media Meet host Bill Hart has been selected for the Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ 2025 Public Media Impact Award for Professionals.

The statewide award is presented to professionals working in public broadcasting to honor their contributions to the industry.

Hart worked at Public Radio 90 for years as Operations Manager and News Director. In 2008, after he retired from the radio station, Hart became the host of Public TV 13’s Media Meet program.

Hart is also a talented musician whose trio Harp, Hart & Bones has performed across the Great Lakes and in the deep South. He’s known for creating a blues program on Public Radio 90 called House of Blue Lights.

His award bio reads: “Whether behind the mic or behind the scenes, Bill Hart has exemplified the very best of public media. His leadership, authenticity, and community-minded spirit make him a truly deserving recipient of the 2025 Public Media Impact Award.”

Hart will be recognized during the Evening of Excellence at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ Summer Leadership Conference in Traverse City on August 12.
