Longtime Marquette lawmaker Stephen Adamini passes at 81

Stephen Adamini

MARQUETTE, MI— Marquette attorney and longtime public servant Stephen Adamini has died.

The Democrat served in the state House for the 109th District from 2001 to 2006. He was also a member of the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees from 2007 through 2014.

Adamini resigned from the Marquette County Board of Commissioners in March due to health concerns. He represented District 3.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said on Facebook Wednesday that Adamini was a dear friend from her time in the Legislature, he was an insightful and thoughtful legislator, and was also downright fun to be around.

Adamini passed at UPHS-Marquette Wednesday. He was 81.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
