Body of missing Manistique man found near the Manistique East Breakwater Lighthouse

Schoolcraft County, MI – The body of a missing Manistique man has been found in waters near the Manistique East Breakwater Lighthouse. State Police say the 39-year-old man had been reported missing Tuesday. Attempts to locate the subject, however, were initially unsuccessful.
Troopers say that on Wednesday during a search of the area of the lighthouse and nearby park they located property items which were confirmed to have belonged to the missing man. The MSP Marine Services Team searched the nearby waters and located the missing man deceased in the water late Wednesday. The man’s next of kin has been notified.Preliminary investigation indicates there were no signs of foul play, however, the investigation is ongoing. The lighthouse and park areas, which had been closed during the search, have been reopened.
MSP Manistique troopers were assisted by the MSP Marine Services Team, Manistique Public Safety Department, MSP Eighth District Detective Bureau, and MSP Negaunee Regional Communications Center.
