LANSING, MI (AP)-- Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Gary Peters is urging Republican Terri Lynn Land to address Michigan's new abortion insurance law.
Peters, who opposes the law, was recently criticized by an anti-abortion group that claimed he wants "cheap" abortions for his daughters.
Peters told reporters Thursday that the post on Right to Life of Michigan's website "crosses the line" and Land should denounce it and say if she supports the abortion insurance law.
Land has been endorsed by Right to Life, which pushed for the law. It requires residents or businesses that want insurance coverage for abortions to buy extra coverage and has no exceptions for rape or incest.
Land's spokeswoman wouldn't say if she supports the law and accused Peters of trying to "lecture women."
