Democrats to run against Markkanen, Bergman

MARQUETTE, MI--   An Ironwood man is running as a Democrat for Michigan’s 110th legislative district.

Lawrence Dale is a businessman and Vietnam veteran. He says if elected, he would put the interests of the district’s constituents first.

Dale intends to run against current Republican Representative Greg Markkanen for the seat.

And a Negaunee man is running for the First District congressional seat currently held by Republican Jack Bergman.

Democrat Dana Ferguson says he’ll work to improve access to reliable rural healthcare.

Both candidates will have to win their party’s primary in August to advance to the November election.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
