McBroom holding another energy town hall

ESCANABA, MI— Senator Ed McBroom and Representative Dave Prestin are holding a town hall meeting in Escanaba next week about the state’s “Green New Deal.”

The newly signed legislation calls for Michigan to have a 100-percent clean energy standard by 2040.

McBroom says he has concerns about the new laws. He says he’s holding the town hall to discuss the impact of the reforms on the state’s energy, environment, economy, property rights and local governments.

Prestin claims the new mandate will make living and working in the U.P. even harder, while doing nothing to reduce costs and increase reliability.

The town hall takes place Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Room 952 of the Heirman Center at Bay College. No reservation is required.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
