MARQUETTE, MI— Democrat Dana LaLonde has officially launched her bid for the 109th state House seat currently occupied by Republican Karl Bohnak.
LaLonde came to the U.P. to attend Northern Michigan University 35 years ago. She was the mayor of Negaunee and is a current commissioner on the Marquette County Board.
LaLonde says her campaign will focus on fighting for working families, protecting access to healthcare, investing in education and libraries, and strengthening the U.P.’s economy.
"As a mother, union supporter, and commissioner, I know firsthand the struggles families face in the U.P., from finding affordable housing and childcare to accessing healthcare and jobs with fair wages," LaLonde says. "I'm running to make sure Lansing never forgets about the Upper Peninsula. This is our home, and I'll always put the people of the U.P. first."
