Dana LaLonde drops out of state House race

MARQUETTE, MI— Dana LaLonde says she is no longer running for the 109th District House seat.

In a Facebook post, the Democrat said she didn’t receive meaningful support from party structures from the beginning of her campaign. She said without that support, building a sustainable grassroots campaign was not realistic.

LaLonde added that she found across parties, too much political decision-making is driven by fundraising, access to power, and preferred candidates rather than by experience, community service, or readiness to lead.

She said she will continue serving as a Marquette County Commissioner and will remain fully committed to her constituents and to the Upper Peninsula.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
