Chris Mapps no longer running for state Senate seat

Chris Mapps

QUINNESEC, MI— A Democrat has withdrawn from the 38th District Michigan Senate race.

Veteran Chris Mapps says he is no longer running due to increased professional and family responsibilities. He says he can’t give his campaign the full commitment it takes to win and to serve effectively.

Mapps is now endorsing Independent Sara Cambensy. He says, “I believe Sara Cambensy shares my values and will take care of all constituents in the district, regardless of party affiliation.”

Cambensy says she’s looking forward to working with Mapps in the days and weeks ahead to build together.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
