3-vehicle Skandia accident injures one

SKANDIA, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital following a multiple-vehicle crash in Skandia Wednesday.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on US-41 South near Yalmer Road. A 70-year-old woman driving a Crown Victoria southbound was stopped on the highway and waiting to turn left into a parking lot. Her vehicle was hit from behind by a PT Cruiser driven by a 23-year-old Wilson woman.

The Crown Victoria was pushed into the ditch on the east side of the highway. The PT Cruiser then collided with an unoccupied Toyota Tundra that was parked on the west shoulder of the highway.

The Wilson woman was cited for failing to stop in an assured clear distance.

She was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
