Chocolay officials looking for hit-and-run driver

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Chocolay Township Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a truck involved in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday.

Officials say it happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Lakewood Lane. A westbound truck struck a mailbox on the northern side of the road, then crossed and hit a pipeline marker on the southern side of the road.

Based on eyewitness testimony the truck is believed to be a red Toyota pickup—possibly an extended cab. It should have damage to its step bars on the side of the truck and possible front-end damage. Witnesses say it wasn’t running properly after the accident and was last seen heading toward US-41.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver is asked to call Chocolay Police at 249-4040.
