Coronavirus fatality reported in Iron County

IRON COUNTY, MI--   Iron County confirmed its first COVID-19-related death on Saturday. 

The Dickinson-Iron Health Department is not releasing any further details, but is urging residents to continue to wear face masks and socially distance.

Baraga County is reporting another positive case, and two Chippewa County residents have tested positive for COVID-19. The individuals are 61- and 70-year-old men. They remain in isolation and close contacts are being identified.

As of Monday at 3 p.m. a total of 155 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Upper Peninsula. Eighteen people have died.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
