Cybersecurity internship established at NMU

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University is partnering with the Northcross Group to establish a cybersecurity internship program.

President Chris Bender says NCG works to secure data at companies across a number of different industries, focusing primarily on financial services, healthcare, transportation and federal sectors. Bender says NMUs Cybersecurity Institute is making great progress in developing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals, so NCG is taking its cybersecurity internship program and dovetailing it with programming already being done at the institute.

“We can make sure that we are complementing what students are getting from an academic standpoint with hands-on type of experience through internship opportunities and have those work together with each other,” he says.

Bender says NCG is looking forward to recruiting from NMU’s cybersecurity student pool.

The partnership officially kicked off last week and interns are actively being sought.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
