Escanaba, MI – Escanaba Police say the recent drowning of a 13-year-old girl in Lake Michigan was an accident.
Last Thursday Katlyn LeClaire went swimming with friends at Aronson Island Beach, but failed to make it back to shore. Her body was found about three hours later in a seven-foot-deep drop-off by a sandbar just to the southeast of Aronson Island.
Escanaba Public Safety says they hope the determination that the cause of death was drowning will put to rest rumors surrounding the incident. Officers say no signs of trauma were found during an examination at St. Francis Hospital.
