Men busted in Sault Ste. Marie for getting fake prescriptions

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force has arrested two Grand Rapids men in Sault Ste. Marie for prescription fraud. 

On Wednesday Trident was notified someone pretending to be a doctor had called in a prescription and someone was on their way to get it. Detectives arrested the man who tried to pick up the medication. A second man was found in a vehicle and arrested.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a stolen handgun and prescriptions thought to be fraudulently obtained from another location.

Leroy McKay, 26, is charged with 10 felonies, including obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and carrying a concealed weapon.

Deiontreay Craft, 23, also faces 10 felonies, including possession of a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm.

Both were arraigned in 91st District Court and given a $100,000 bond with tether.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
