MSP blame alcohol for serious injury crash in Ishpeming Township

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Escanaba man is jailed for a drunk driving incident that injured two people in Ishpeming Township.

State Police from the Negaunee Post were called to the area of the Greenwood Reservoir during the early morning hours of Monday on a report of an underage drinking party. Several vehicles tried to leave the scene when troopers arrived. One of the vehicles crashed off the shoulder of the road a short distance from the scene.

Officers say two passengers were injured, one critically as a result of the person being ejected from the vehicle. The severely injured 20-year-old man was transported to a downstate hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver is lodged at the Marquette County Jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

The investigation is ongoing.
