Negaunee Township woman injured when trailer hits her car

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital following a head-on collision in Negaunee Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday to US-41 at Pond Road. Deputies say a 53-year-old Marquette man was westbound on the highway when the utility trailer he was pulling separated from his truck. The trailer crossed the median and hit an eastbound Buick driven by a 31-year-old Negaunee Township woman head-on. The car left the roadway and came to rest against a trailer that was parked on the lawn of Window Outfitters.

The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle with the Jaws of Life. She was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of her injuries.

The Marquette man was ticketed for having an unsecure load.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
