MARQUETTE, MI-- Northern Michigan University officials say once the state of Michigan gives the okay, employees and students may take off their masks and stop social distancing inside only if they’ve given the Health Center proof of full vaccination through an app.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the rule change Thursday. It says fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing “except where required by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.”
NMU President Fritz Erickson says once Michigan COVID-19 rules are amended the university will lift those pandemic requirements for those who have uploaded vaccination documentation on The Bridge app and sent it to the Health Center. Those who haven’t been vaccinated or haven’t uploaded vaccine information will still be required to wear a mask and physically distance.
Erickson is strongly encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.
