Orange barrels popping up on UP roads

MARQUETTE, MI--   Several road projects around the U.P. are scheduled to start within the next week.

On May 10 the Michigan Department of Transportation will begin construction on a center left-turn lane near the Lac Vieux Desert Casino in Watersmeet. The project is slated for completion in July.

MDOT is also starting three other projects next Monday, May 17. Workers are replacing a culvert on US-41 over an unnamed stream over First Street in Chassell. The estimated completion date is September-10th.

In Delta County MDOT is resurfacing 5.2 miles of M-69 from the US-2/US-41 intersection to the Menominee County line. Work is scheduled to wrap up in July.

And MDOT is replacing the bridge on US-2 over the Big Cedar River in Menominee County. That project is expected to be finished in October.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
