Police K-9 finds suicidal boy in Calumet Township

CALUMET TOWNSHIP, MI--   A police dog found an endangered juvenile in Houghton County this week.

On Wednesday, Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Calumet Township on a report of a suicidal male. The boy had fled the residence with a knife.

A Michigan State Police K-9 from the Calumet Post was brought to the scene. The dog tracked the juvenile through a residential district into a large wooded area and found the boy, who was unharmed.

The juvenile was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital for evaluation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
