UPDATE: Ishpeming Police investigating fatal crash

UPDATE:  Ishpeming Police say the driver of the Navigator was Terry Orlich, 64, of Marquette.  He was not injured. The driver of the LeSabre, Robert Emanuelson, 85, of Champion, was injured. Carrie Emanuelson, 82, of Champion--a passenger in the LeSabre--died at the scene.

ISHPEMING, MI--   One person has been killed in a two-vehicle crash in Ishpeming.

City Police say it happened Monday around 2:30 p.m. on US-41 at the intersection of Malton Road. They say a 64-year-old Marquette man was westbound in a Lincoln Navigator when a Buick LeSabre driven by an 85-year-old Champion man tried to cross the highway and enter a parking lot. The Navigator struck the LeSabre on the passenger side. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Officers found two people injured at the scene. One was taken to UPHS-Marquette with non-life-threatening injuries. The other person died at the scene.

Names are not being released at this time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
