MARQUETTE, MI— Marquette-area organizations are supporting the construction of a new playground at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

The Playground for All Committee and City of Marquette are partnering with the Community Foundation of Marquette County to raise funds for Kids Cove, A Playground for All. The all-inclusive playground will replace the aging structure currently at the park.

Last week, representatives from the Honor Credit Union Full-Meter-THON gave the committee a check for more than $14,000. The money was raised through a recent event where participants raced 3.28 feet.

Playground for All is looking to raise an additional $830,000 to reach the $1.3 million fundraising goal.

Construction on the playground is anticipated to begin in the spring and be finished in summer of 2022.
