DNR Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program to be held in June

MARQUETTE, MI— Registration is now open for the Department of Natural Resources’ Becoming an Outdoors-Woman summer program.

Set for June 3-5 in Marquette County, the event offers instruction in more than 20 types of activities. They include kayaking, wilderness first aid and survival, lake fishing, shooting sports, boating, basic and advanced land navigation, and introduction to bird hunting with dogs.

Volunteer instructors provide basic and advanced teaching that is tailored to each participant's individual ability.

The 25th year of the Upper Peninsula BOW takes place at Bay Cliff Health Camp. Registration is at www.michigan.gov/bow. The deadline to register is May 23.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
