Work on sections of Iron Ore Heritage Trail starts next week

NEGAUNEE, MI— A number of repairs will be made to the Iron Ore Heritage Trail starting next week.

The affected portion of trail includes Winthrop Junction in Ishpeming to the Canadian National railroad crossing in Negaunee. Sections of trail ranging from two feet to 203 feet long will be closed for two weeks to allow crews to cut bumpy and cracked pavement, cut and remove tree roots, and repave. Work starts Monday.

Trail users in Negaunee and Ishpeming are advised to use posted detours and should expect to use city roadways.

Maps of the detours are available at www.ironoreheritage.com/news.
