Snowmobilers told to watch for wet areas on some trails

MARQUETTE, MI— The Michigan DNR is cautioning snowmobilers about possible hazards on state trails.

Eastern U.P. Trail Specialist Peter Costa says there are still wet areas that are usually frozen this time of year, and there are wet areas that are never normally wet. He says most areas have good riding, but snowmobilers need to be aware of and careful around certain spots.

The DNR says checking with websites or social media pages generated by local snowmobile trail clubs can be a great source of local information on trail conditions.

The DNR also has a trail reports page. A link to it is here.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
