Access to Lake Angeline continues as DNR negotiates easement with property owner

Michigan Department of Natural Resources

ISHPEMING, MI— An Ishpeming property owner is leaving a gate open so boaters and anglers can access Lake Angeline.

The Department of Natural Resources has been in real estate easement negotiations with the owner and exploring alternative options.

The cattle-style gate was erected to block entry to the site through the man’s property, and the DNR temporarily closed the Lake Angeline boating access site until the issue could be resolved.

But DNR Deputy Public Information Officer John Pepin said Wednesday the property owner is leaving his gate open, citing safety, liability, and trespassing concerns.

Easement negotiations will continue.
