HOUGHTON, MI— The Michigan DNR is reminding residents about park closures this summer due to improvement projects.
$250 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding is being used to make critical updates at parks around the state.
Houghton County’s McLain State Park will close August 1st and remain closed the rest of the season. The DNR is upgrading the park’s wastewater treatment system. A proposed $350,000 in ARPA funding is available for that and other renovations.
DNR officials say the funds will help the department address a decades-long backlog of repair and maintenance needs.
