Governor appoints Wakefield man to Ski Area Safety Board

Undated - Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed a Wakefield man to the state’s Ski Area Safety Board. Benjamin Bartz is the chief of mountain operations at Midwest Family Ski Resorts. He received an associate’s degree in ski area management from Gogebic Community College and a bachelor's degree in ski area management from Northern Michigan University. Bartz is appointed to represent U-P Ski Area Managers for a term starting June-9th and expiring June-8th of 2028. Bartz succeeds Samuel Bracket, who has resigned.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
