DNR holding public meeting on Marquette equine trail

David Kenyon

MARQUETTE, MI— The Department of Natural Resources is looking for public feedback regarding an equestrian trail in Marquette County.

The DNR recently completed improvements to the Thunder Valley Equestrian Trail. The pathway was extended from 7 miles to 13.5 miles and a connection to the Marquette County Fairgrounds was added. The DNR wants feedback on whether the pathway should allow trail use other than for horses.

The Equine Trails Subcommittee is holding a public meeting Monday in Sands Township. It begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Hiawathaland Snowmobile Club clubhouse on M-553.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
