MARQUETTE, MI— The state’s “Three Free” weekend takes place Saturday and Sunday.
That’s when the Department of Natural Resources allows residents and visitors to fish, ride ORVs, and get into state parks and other outdoor spaces for free.
On June 7th and 8th, no license will be needed to operate ORVs on state trails. The DNR will also waive the regular Recreation Passport fee that grants vehicle access to state parks, state-managed boating access sites, and other areas.
As part of free fishing this weekend, Kids Fishing Day returns Saturday to the DNR Pocket Park in Escanaba. Registration takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. and the event runs until 3 p.m. All activities are free for youth 16 and younger.
