LANSING, MI— Several U.P. communities will benefit from Department of Natural Resources recreational boating grants.
More than $3.8 million was given to 12 projects across the state for boating improvements and development.
- In Mackinac County’s Clark Township, $100,000 went to the Hessel Marina for a breakwall and boater amenity building.
- Munising’s municipal boating access site is getting $300,000 for ramp and skid pier replacements.
- The L’Anse marina was given $300,000 for an engineering grant and study.
The funding is made possible through the DNR Parks and Recreation Division’s Waterways Grant Program, which began in 1949 with the goal of expanding the harbor system along the Great Lakes and boating access sites throughout the state.
