HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI— Houghton County will receive a portion of $11.9 million in park upgrade grants from the Department of Natural Resources.
The money through the Land and Water Conservation Fund can be used for local park improvements, acquisitions and development.
The DNR’s Parks and Recreation Division is getting $1 million for Phase 2 development of Houghton Douglass Falls. The completed project includes a parking lot, vault toilet, information kiosk, pedestrian path, observation deck, fencing, veterans' memorial, and a pedestrian bridge.
