DELTA COUNTY, MI— Four boaters had to be rescued from Little Bay de Noc over the weekend.
On Saturday around 11:35 p.m., the Delta County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on a report of a disabled vessel about a mile from the Escanaba River. They found three people in a 14-foot aluminum boat. The engine had died and the boat was taking on water due to high winds and waves.
As the subjects were being transferred onto the Sheriff’s Office vessel, their boat capsized.
All three and their boat were brought to shore. No injuries were reported.
Sunday around 11:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office was again called to Little Bay de Noc for a boater in distress near Peninsula Point. The boat was reportedly taking on water and sinking.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the 21-foot bass boat was capsized and its lone occupant was sitting on the overturned hull. Deputies were able to get the subject on board and tow the overturned boat back to shore.
Conditions again included high winds and waves.
No injuries were reported.
