Tracking device aids in finding missing person

(Houghton County, MI) - The Houghton County Sheriff's Office used a tracking device to find a person missing from Hancock Township this week. Deputies received a report of the missing 20-year-old on Tuesday. The individual is enrolled in the Houghton County Project Lifesaver Program. Deputies arrived at the scene and located a signal with Project Lifesaver equipment. They tracked the signal point-7 miles through wooded, hilly terrain… and after 28-minutes found the individual.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan State Police from the Calumet post, and Station 80.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
