ESCANABA, MI— The Delta County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to stay off ice in the area.
Tuesday morning, deputies received two separate reports that snowmobiles had broken through the ice, one in the area of Farmer’s Dock and the other in the area of the Escanaba beach house.
Both riders were able to make it safely to shore.
Officials say ice conditions on the bay are deteriorating quickly and should not be considered safe at this time.
