MSHS/Negaunee rivalry could win national contest

MARQUETTE, MI--   The high school sports rivalry between Marquette and Negaunee has gone to the next level.

USA Today is sponsoring an online contest where people can vote for the best rivalry in the nation.  The competition between the Marquette Redmen and Negaunee Miners football teams was voted the best in Michigan.

The winners in each state—along with Washington, D.C.—have now been divided into four regions.  Voting for the best rivalry in the Midwest among 12 teams began Wednesday and continues through December 19 at 11 a.m.  The rivalries with the most votes in each region advance to the championship round.

The winners will split $10,000 equally between their athletic departments.

To vote for Negaunee and Marquette go to www.contest.usatodayhss.com/vote/midwest.  You can vote as many times as you want.
