Big Bay Relay launches Saturday morning

MARQUETTE, MI-- Organizers of this year’s Big Bay Relay are stressing safety above all else.

The 39^th running of the relay kicks off Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Kaufman Sports Complex in Marquette. Participants will make their way up County Road 550 to the Thunder Bay Inn in Big Bay.

Race officials are cautioning drivers that runners and crew cars will occupy the right side of 550 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. “Race in progress” signs will be posted in Marquette and Big Bay.

More than 30 teams are taking part in this year’s relay. Included are five junior race teams.
