ISHPEMING, MI-- It’s a flurry of activity in Marquette County as organizers prepare for this weekend’s Noquemanon Ski Marathon.
Friday marks the 20th anniversary of the event. This year’s race features a new finish line, about 4 kilometers west of the Superior Dome at the Log Yard. The new finish allows organizers to eliminate the last 4-K section of the course that’s historically low in snow cover. Busing will be provided from the Log Yard to the dome.
Milder weather is forecast for Friday and Friday night. As a result, race grooming is scheduled to be completed early Friday morning. Race officials are asking the public to refrain from walking, skiing, or biking on any race trail section from 12:01 a.m. Friday through race day Saturday.
