Marquette welcomes junior skiers for weekend of racing

MARQUETTE, MI--   Hundreds of people are converging at Marquette Mountain this weekend for the Bob Hosking Memorial Alpine Ski Race.

The event is the qualifying race for the Junior Championships for Regions 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Central U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association.

More than 400 athletes are expected to compete for about 180 qualifying spots in the U16 and U14 age groups.

Slalom and giant slalom races will be run Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Award ceremonies will be held at 4 p.m. following each day of racing, with the top 10 athletes in each age category receiving awards.
